Close your eyes and smell 

the denticulate coastlines

Close your eyes and smell

 the numbness of the summer idleness

Close your eyes and hear

 the buzzing sound of the cicadas and

 the children's voices that play around ....

Close your eyes and recall

 the infinite blue of the sea and the sky ....

The magic sunsets and the sun,

 the red one and the orange one...

You are standing there not being able to have enough of it, 

with an unquenchable greediness...

Greece your Magnificence!

Greece of the Mystery and of Freedom

Greece of the Truth and Justice...

Ελλάς το μεγαλείο σου

Κλείνεις τα μάτια κι ασφραίνεσαι

τις δαντελωτές ακρογιαλιές

Κλείνεις τα μάτια κι αισθάνεσαι

το μούδιασμα της θερινής ραστώνης

Κλείνεις τα μάτια κι ακούς

το βουητό των τζιτζiκιών και

τις φωνές των παιδιών που παίζουν...

Κλείνεις τα μάτια κι αναπολείς

το ατελείωτο μπλε της θάλασσας

και τ' ουρανού...

τα μαγικά ηλιοβασιλέματα

τον ήλιο τον κόκκινο

τον ήλιο τον πορτοκαλί...

Κι εσύ εκεί να μην τον χορταίνεις

με μια ακόρεστη λαιμαργία...

Ελλάς το μεγαλείο σου!

Ελλάς του μυστηρίου και της ελευθερίας

Ελλάς της αλήθειας και της δικαιοσύνης...

Ελλάς του παρελθόντος και του μέλλοντος!
